A lot can change between now and the beginning of the season, and some guys (like Keith McGill) won't arrive at Utah until the summer. It's notable that Tyler Shreve has moved into the second string quarterback spot. He had a strong spring, but I thought Robles looked better in the Red-White game. Jon Hays will be a newcomer at QB this fall, and could take the third string QB spot for now. Whittingham is considering moving Robles to a different position. I could see this being similar to Chad Manis moving the linebacker. Robles is a big guy (6'4", 230 lbs) so he could play another position.
It's good to have stability on the offensive line heading out of the spring. Even though they got a little banged up, it will be important to have a good, stable line with the new Norm Chow offense. With the great running backs that Utah has this year (all three could get equal playing time, similar to Wisconsin's backs), I think their running game will really excel in their first Pac-12 season if the line can play well and stay healthy.
On defense, I think it's interesting that there are no set starters on the ends. Any combination of the four ends listed are going to be tough for any Pac-12 offense to handle. On the inside, Utah has a lot of size and Star Lotulelei is supposed to be a really good addition. The linebackers will be interesting to watch. Matt Martinez really improved a lot as the season went on last year, and I hope that he will continue that through the offseason and into next season. The stud linebacker position will be one to watch, as we will get to see if Blechen can be a playmaker at linebacker like he was at safety.
The secondary, well, gives me a headache just thinking about it. Conroy Black is so athletic (and the fastest guy on the team), but he was not a good cornerback last year. He is their best returning player in the secondary. Hopefully he has improved on his coverage skills. I am actually pretty excited about two players in the secondary: Reggie Topps and Keith McGill. McGill will be here later in the year, but is supposed to be a great player. For some reason, I really like Reggie Topps, but I don't recall anything specific that he did last year.
It's only the spring, and this depth chart can change a lot before the season starts. But I feel pretty good about every position outside of the secondary.
